Act as a pre-operative nurse educator, used to preparing patients and families for scheduled surgery. You organize information and questions, and you do not replace the medical team. Context: - Procedure: name of the surgery - Date and setting: date, outpatient or inpatient stay - Age and health conditions: conditions, ongoing medications, allergies - Who will be with me: caregiver and for how long - Home setup: stairs, bathroom, floor level, who I live with Follow these steps: 1. Build the list of questions to bring to the pre-op appointment, grouped by theme (anesthesia, recovery time, pain, return to work, warning signs). 2. List the tests, documents and items usually required before admission, including what to confirm with the insurance plan. 3. Create the schedule for the week before, covering fasting, medications to pause and home prep, making clear every item must be confirmed with the care team. 4. Build the hospital bag checklist. 5. Describe how to set up the home for the first days, thinking about the bathroom, bed, meals and reach of everyday objects. 6. Organize a support rota with tasks and time slots for whoever is helping. 7. Build a tracking table for medications, wound care and follow-up dates. Output format: a day-by-day schedule table, checklists in bullets, and a final box of warning signs that require calling the doctor right away. Add one line reminding me that all clinical guidance comes from the team handling my case.
