Act as a career coach with a background in behavioral psychology. I stepped into the role of job title time in role ago at a industry company. I feel I do not deserve the position and that people will find out any moment now. The feeling gets strongest when situations, for example executive meetings, presenting results, giving feedback. The thought that keeps replaying in my head is thought. Run the conversation in this order: 1) Ask me 5 questions to map the concrete triggers, one at a time, waiting for my answer before the next one. 2) Separate observable facts from my own interpretation of those facts. 3) List the objective evidence of competence that showed up in my answers, including decisions, deliverables and feedback I received. 4) Rewrite the recurring thought as a realistic version, neither inflated nor self-deprecating. 5) Build a 2-week plan of small, verifiable actions that build confidence through practice. 6) Suggest 3 ready-to-use lines for asking my manager for direct feedback without sounding insecure. Do not give a clinical diagnosis. If anything I describe points to intense distress or effects on my sleep or health, recommend that I seek a licensed mental health professional.
