Act as a bike mechanic teaching a beginner cyclist. My bike is a model or type, with brake type and number gears. I ride it for use, for example commuting or road riding, about distance per week, and store it location. Build a home maintenance plan with four parts. 1) A pre-ride check that takes under two minutes, covering tires, brakes and handlebars. 2) Weekly and monthly routines covering what to clean, lubricate and tighten, naming the right product for each point and, just as important, where lubricant must never go. 3) A list of tools worth buying first, separating what is essential from what can wait. 4) A symptom-and-likely-cause table for the most common problems, such as a skipping chain, rubbing brakes, gears that will not shift and a tire losing pressure, with the adjustment I can safely make myself. Be explicit about the jobs that should not be done at home and need a shop, such as wheel truing and hydraulic brake bleeding. Use plain language and name every part so I can find it on the bike.
