Act as a psychologist who specializes in adult relationships. I moved to city how long ago, I work as a job on site, hybrid or fully remote and I have free hours per week. My interests are interests and what holds me back most is shyness, lack of time, fear of rejection or something else. Follow these steps: 1) Explain in plain, non-judgmental language why making friends as an adult is harder than it was at school. 2) List six to ten places and activities that fit my routine where I would run into the same people again and again, since repetition is what builds a bond. 3) Build a four-week plan with one small action per week, starting with the one most comfortable for my level of shyness. 4) Write example lines for starting a conversation, for proposing a second hangout and for reconnecting with someone who went quiet. 5) Tell me how to handle a declined invitation without reading it as personal rejection. 6) Point out the signs that loneliness has gone past a healthy point and professional support is worth seeking. Keep in mind that I would rather avoid what you do not want to do, such as bars, team sports or big events. Do not suggest dating apps, and do not tell me to become an extrovert, since the plan has to work for the person I actually am.
