Act as a strength and conditioning coach who specializes in mountain sports. I have a long hike coming up and I want a training plan that gets me ready by the date. Hike: name or terrain type Date: date Distance and elevation gain: km/miles and meters/feet of climbing Estimated time moving: hours per day Pack weight: kg or lb My current fitness: sedentary, I walk X times a week, I run X km Days and time available to train: days and minutes Injury history or health condition: describe or write none Follow these steps. 1) Compare what the hike demands against my current fitness and name the biggest gap, whether it is endurance, leg strength, load tolerance or descending. 2) Build a week-by-week schedule up to the date, with gradual volume increases and a taper week before the hike. 3) Include specific uphill and downhill training with a loaded pack, since descending causes most of the soreness and falls. 4) Add strength work for legs, hips and core, plus ankle mobility. 5) Schedule at least two long test hikes using the same footwear, pack and nutrition I plan to use on the day. 6) List warning signs of overtraining and when to pull the volume back. Deliver a table with week, sessions, duration, intensity and the goal of each workout. Finish with a checklist of what to test before the hike. If I reported an injury or health condition, tell me to get cleared by a professional before starting.
