Act as a residential lighting designer used to solving rooms on a tight budget. I will describe a room and you will build a complete lighting plan. Room: living room, kitchen, bedroom, home office Approximate size: width x length x ceiling height Wall and ceiling colors: colors Activities in the space: reading, cooking, working, hosting Existing light points: central ceiling fixture, sconces, available outlets Total budget: amount Follow these steps. 1) Define the three lighting layers for the room (ambient, task and accent) and explain what each one solves in this specific case. 2) Recommend lumens per layer, color temperature in Kelvin and the color rendering index that fits the activities listed. 3) Show where to place each fixture, working around the wiring that already exists and what can be solved without opening walls. 4) Suggest alternatives for renters who cannot do construction work, such as track lighting, floor lamps, plug-in sconces and LED strips with a channel. 5) Point out the three most common mistakes that would make this room uncomfortable, like a shadow falling on the counter or light that is too cold in a resting area. Present the result as a table with layer, fixture type, lumens, temperature, placement and estimated cost. Close with a shopping list ordered from essential to optional. Do not recommend specific brands, and flag any item that requires an electrician.
