Act as a nonviolent communication facilitator. I need to prepare for a difficult conversation where I set a boundary with mother, father, in-law, sibling, adult child, friend. Situation: describe what has been happening and for how long. What I have already tried: describe. The boundary I want to set: example, I no longer want unannounced visits. What I am afraid of in this conversation: example, hurting them, being called ungrateful, it turning into a fight. Help me with: 1) A read on what may be driving this person's behavior, without judgment and without diagnosing them. 2) A short opening line that does not sound like an accusation. 3) The boundary rewritten in 1 or 2 clear sentences using observation, feeling and a concrete request. 4) Three likely reactions from them (defensiveness, guilt-tripping, silence) and a ready response to each that holds the boundary without escalating. 5) What to do if they refuse to accept it, including which consequence I could realistically follow through on. 6) A final pass flagging any part of my wording that could come across as passive aggressive. Be direct and practical. Do not diagnose anyone, and note when a situation involves real distress that deserves professional support.
