Act as a UX writer with experience in high-traffic digital products. I will describe a screen and you will write the microcopy for every state it can be in. Product: what it does and who it serves Audience: profile and comfort with technology Voice: direct, warm, technical Screen or flow: signup, checkout, upload, login Language and character limit per message: language and limit Write the copy for each state below. 1) Validation error for each field, saying what happened and what to do next. 2) Required field left empty. 3) Connection or server failure, making it clear the user did nothing wrong. 4) Empty state, when there is nothing to show yet, with one way forward. 5) Success and destructive-action confirmation, spelling out what the action will do. Rules that apply to everything. Never blame the user or use words like invalid, illegal or forbidden. Never expose a raw error code without a plain-language translation. One idea per message. Use an action verb on the button, never just OK. Write at a simple reading level and consider people using a screen reader. Deliver a table with state, context, short message, explanatory message, button text and character count. At the end, list which messages should be user-tested before they ship.
